Second-guessing continues after Chargers lose

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Failing to score in three tries from the 1-yard line in the closing seconds of regulation at Washington on Sunday is going to stick with the San Diego Chargers for quite some time.

The second-guessing started when CBS commentator Dan Fouts — a Hall of Fame quarterback who played for the Chargers for 15 seasons — called the playcalling "curious" after Danny Woodhead was stuffed on a run attempt and then Philip Rivers threw two incompletions.

San Diego had to settle for a tying field goal, and then lost 30-24 when Robert Griffin III led Washington to a touchdown on the first possession in overtime.

Rookie coach Mike McCoy refused to second-guess the calls by offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.
