SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - First responders got important training downtown Wednesday, practicing how to deal with the aftermath of a major earthquake.

"We have building collapses we have lost people things like that infrastructure down all those things we have to deal with when an earthquake happens," San Diego Fire-Rescue Battalion Chief Jim Gaboury said.

Personnel from agencies in San Diego and riverside counties are practicing the best ways to save people trapped in the rubble of a collapsed building.

This drill is part of a series of exercises simulating the effects of a 6.6 earthquake around the county.
