SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A wild chase ends with a crash in National City. Police say the suspect wouldn't pull over and topped speeds of 90 miles per hour on Interstate 5, before hitting a center divide. Then, he got out of the vehicle and made a run for it northbound on the freeway.

Police deployed a canine unit that caught the suspect and took him down.

"He was taken into custody and he's at a local hospital being treated for some bite wounds and he's going to go to jail for felony evading a police officer," said Lt. Robert Rounds with the National City Police Department.

The suspect has been identified as Jesus Torres of National City. It's not clear why the 20-year-old ran from police.
