DUI suspect sideswipes cars in Clairemont Mesa

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A DUI suspect is in custody Monday, accused of going on a crash-course through Clairemont Mesa.

It happened overnight in the 3800 block of Ashford Street. Witnesses say a driver sideswiped a number of cars and blew out a tire.

"When I went down there, he was slurring his words and blocking the decal on his truck, but I could see his license plate perfectly fine," witness Adrian Herman said.

The suspect then took off -- driving on the rim. Police tracked him down by following the scratches on the road.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.
