Man arrested on parole violation after standoff

Posted: Updated:

SPRING VALLEY (CBS 8) - A man is behind bars Wednesday after a standoff at a self storage unit in Spring Valley.

The Fugitive Task Force was looking for a suspect wanted on a parole violation. He was located inside a storage unit at Storage West on Jamacha Boulevard.

The man refused to come out and told authorities he was armed. A witness who lives across the street says he was alerted to the situation after hearing sirens.

"There was one gunman I believe up in the self storage units, and then I just saw the cops coming in down here and then up around the self storage," a neighbor said.

Authorities were eventually able to convince the man to surrender.
