Luxury watches stolen in smash-and-grab burglary

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A security guard points his gun, but doesn't pull the trigger, after catching thieves in the act at a store in Pacific Beach.

Police are looking for two suspects who broke into the Beachworks jewelry store in the 4100 block of Mission Boulevard around 12:30 a.m.

Several watches, worth several thousand dollars each, are missing. Also during the robbery, a security guard came face-to-face with one of the suspects.

"When I heard that break in the door, I just take off running that way and the first guy I saw, I took my gun and I point my gun at his head, but something…I was going to shoot him, but I didn't do it," said security guard, Fernando Sherer.

The suspects are described as two white males wearing black hoodies. They were carrying white bags and possibly wearing gloves.

It's not clear, at this time, if this break is connected to a similar crime in La Jolla earlier this week.

If you have information in this case, you're asked to call the San Diego Police Department.
