3 teens rescued after car crash in Mission Valley

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A speeding teenage driver crashed into a tree off a Mission Valley roadway Friday, which sent his two passengers to a hospital with serious injuries, a police officer said.

The white Ford Mustang carrying the three teens were headed east in the 7700 block of Friars Road near Mission Center Road about 2:15 a.m. when the driver lost control, crossed into the westbound lanes, then slammed into a tree, San Diego police Officer Frank Cali said.

Cali said one of the passenger suffered a fractured pelvis, a serious back injury, a head injury and lacerations to his feet. The second passenger sustained a serious head injury, the officer said. They were both taken to a hospital to be treated, Cali said.

The driver complained of pain but did not require treatment, according to Cali, who said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
