Foster children celebrate with new forever families

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It was a day to remember for nearly 30 San Diego foster kids as they legally became members of their forever families at the annual adoption court party.

Families celebrated at the Meadowlark Juvenile Court Friday by finalizing their adoptions.

November is National Adoption Month and San Diego County Adoptions is raising awareness about the need for homes for thousands of foster kids.

"Every child deserves a safe, stable home life and when children can't stay in their biological family, there are other families that would like to take them in. And so foster parents can then adopt children, and it's a great program," County Supervisor Dave Roberts said.

Watch CBS News 8 at 5 p.m. every Sunday for our Adopt 8 stories featuring foster children who need homes, and success stories of those who have already found theirs.
