SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say at least one Santa Clara County sheriff's deputy fatally shot a woman who was armed with an unspecified weapon.
Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup says the shooting happened shortly after midnight Saturday when three deputies were responding a report of breaking glass and loud pounding at a triplex in San Jose's Burbank neighborhood.
Officials say the deputies encountered the woman in a driveway, and at least one officer opened fire. Firefighters and paramedics administered first aid before the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released her name, age or city of residence and have not said what kind of weapon she had.
None of the deputies were injured. Their names haven't been released.
