Holiday travelers advised to arrive early for flights from Lindbergh Field

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Around 400,000 travelers are expected to pass through the gates at Lindbergh Field during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, so passengers should plan to arrive earlier than normal, airport officials said Monday.

Airport spokeswoman Rebecca Bloomfield said the estimated passenger count is for the period from last Friday to next Sunday. Sunday is expected to be the busiest day as holiday travelers head home.

Holiday travel could be made more difficult by storms passing through the United States this week.

Bloomfield said travelers may want to check with their airlines before going to Lindbergh Field. Also, the airport maintains a flight status section on its website.

American Airlines canceled several flights from Dallas to San Diego day because of weather. Flights on various airlines to San Diego from Austin, Minneapolis, New York, San Antonio and Seattle are among those that have experienced delays.

Passengers were urged to come to the airport 90 minutes early for domestic flights and two and a half hours before international departures.
