San Diego students and their robot open parade

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A huge honor and thrill Thursday for a group of San Diego students leading Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

The Holy Cows kicked off the annual tradition with their confeftti shooting robot. They built the robot for the First Robotic Competition - a program focused on inspiring young people's interest and participation in science and technology.

A lot of people were like 'cool robot' or 'wow, that's such a great robot.' Not only from kids, but also from parents, and I think that's really important," said Kaithlyn Abulencia a freshman at SDSU

Four other teams from around the country were also chosen to present their robots in the parade.
