SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego police officers surrounded an apartment in the La Jolla Village neighborhood Friday in response to a domestic violence incident, and the suspect surrendered peacefully, according to police officials.

Police and SWAT officers surrounded the ground-floor apartment at about 4:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of Lombard Place near Nobel Drive in response to a call that the man may have killed his girlfriend and was threatening to shoot any police that approached the building, a police official said.

According to the police official, the woman appears to have been unharmed.

Just after 6 p.m. on Friday the man exited the apartment, which was just to the southeast of the University Towne Center shopping mall, and surrendered peacefully to officers who had surrounded the building, according to police officials.
