SAN DIEGO (CNS) - An armed man attempted to rob the Kay Jewelers store in the Fashion Valley Mall Friday night, but only came away with an employee's lunch bag.
The employees were locking up the store about 9:30 p.m. when they were confronted by the suspect, San Diego Police Department Officer Dean Bishop said.
He directed his attention and his handgun to the store employee holding a bag, Bishop said.
"The suspect grabbed his lunch bag, thinking it was money," Bishop said.
The suspect ran toward a parking structure, Bishop said.
None of the employees were hurt, Bishop said.
The suspect was described as around 22 years old. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, Bishop said.
