CDA Foundation offering free dental care

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The California Dental Association Foundation provided free dental care to hundreds of San Diegans Saturday.

The CDA Cares dental clinic plans to provide free oral health care to over 2,000 patients over the weekend.

As the barriers on good dental care continue to rise in California, some San Diegans are taking full advantage of the opportunity.

"We're in San Diego because there's lots of need here in this area. We have an opportunity to do a lot of dentist to people who are underserved and don't have good access to dental care. We have about 1,700 volunteers, about 800 dental professionals including four or 500 dentists," president of cda Dr. James Stephens said.

Over the past year they have provided free services to nearly 6,000 patients in California.

Sunday is the last day -- doors open at 5:30 a.m. at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
