SOUTH EL MONTE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say at least 60 people were briefly evacuated from a Los Angeles County hospital as crews doused a small fire on the roof.
Sheriff's Lt. Loy McBride says the fire at the Greater El Monte Community Hospital was doused shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday and people were being let back inside.
He says no injuries were reported from the fire.
Lt. William Wicker tells City News Service that those evacuated included at least five patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
The extent of damage was not immediately known.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The hospital is in South El Monte, about 10 miles due east of downtown Los Angeles.
