School counselor accused of having sex with minor

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A counselor for a North Park continuation school was on compulsory paid leave Thursday following his arrest on suspicion of having sex with a minor, authorities said.

Lucas Jubb, 35, was taken into custody Wednesday morning at ALBA High, where he has held the post of mental-health clinician for six years, according to San Diego police and school officials.

Jubb was booked into county jail on suspicion of two counts of sexual intercourse with a juvenile, and was released on bail this morning, SDPD sex-crimes Lt. Chuck Kaye said.

Kaye declined to say if the alleged victim is a student where the suspect works.

The school serves special education students or those with behavioral issues that may have led to suspensions or expulsion, school district spokesman Jack Brandais said.

Jubb was hired in 2002 and worked in administrative jobs, leaving the agency in 2006. He was rehired in his current capacity the following year.

He will remain on paid leave pending the outcome of his criminal case, Brandais said.

The name of the suspect's workplace is an acronym for "alternative learning for behavior and attitude."
