Holiday closures around San Diego County

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Government offices around San Diego County will be closed Wednesday for the Christmas holiday.

The closures in the City of San Diego will include recreation centers, swimming pools and libraries. Facilities often open on holidays, like the Miramar Landfill and Mission Trails Regional Park visitor's center, will be closed.

Municipal golf courses will be open but will close a couple of hours earlier than usual.

City libraries are operating on a special schedule through New Year's Day. Patrons are encouraged to check www.sandiegolibrary.org for the hours of their branch.

Trash service will be delayed one day.

Some cities will have extended closures of offices and other facilities. Officials encourage residents to check city websites for holiday schedules.

Both the Metropolitan Transit System and North County Transit District will operate on their Sunday/holiday schedules.

The MTS trolley will run every half-hour, while the NCTD Sprinter trains will run every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., and once an hour outside those times.

The NCTD's Coaster train will have four northbound and four southbound runs, instead of the usual 10 in each direction.
