Posted: Updated:

VISTA (CBS 8) - A man suspected of firing multiple gunshots inside an apartment in Vista is in custody Thursday morning.

Multiple gunshots were reported shortly before midnight at a complex in the 900 block of Taylor Street near Riviera Drive, sheriff's Lt. Dave Schaller said.

The standoff came to an end around 4:45 a.m. Police say a Marine, identified as 26-year-old Christopher Johnson, surrendered to police after apparently firing shots in his own apartment.

Residents in the area were evacuated, as a precaution, but have since been allowed back in their homes.

No injuries have been reported.
