Loren Nancarrow dies after battle with cancer

Veteran San Diego TV weathercaster and environmental reporter Loren Nancarrow has passed away.

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - We're saddened to report the passing of a former member of the CBS 8 family. Loren Nancarrow died Saturday night after a brave battle with brain cancer.

Loren worked here at News 8 on two different occasions. He started in 1980 as a reporter and quickly found his way onto the anchor desk. He left in 1986 for a job in San Francisco.

But he came back to News 8 in 1991 as our weatherman and environmental reporter, a subject he was passionate about. He even turned his backyard into the "News 8 Ranch."

He was passionate about his family too. Loren was on our air until 1998. In the years after that Loren was also seen on the San Diego airwaves at KGTV and most recently at KSWB.

Loren was 60-years-old.

Our thoughts are with his wife Susie and his three children Hanna-Jane, Graham and Britta.

Monday there is a paddle out in Loren's honor at South Cardiff State Beach at 4 p.m.
