A look back at the Adopt 8 kids of 2013

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - This past year on Adopt 8, we featured 34 children - kids who are considered difficult to place, because they're older, are part of a sibling set, or have special needs.

We are happy to share with you that 21 of them have been matched with families to call their own, while 13 are still waiting for their dream of finding a permanent home to come true.

Watch the above video, as CBS News 8's Marcella Lee and Photojournalist Ann Marie Spaulding take a look back at the Adopt 8 kids of 2013.

Since Adopt 8 first aired in November 1999, more than 700 foster children have been featured, with 462 of these kids now in a forever home. We thank the wonderful families in San Diego who have opened up their homes and hearts to expand their families through adoption.

On Adopt 8, we feature children who are considered "difficult to place" because they are older, or have special needs. This past year, wishes came true for several children featured on Adopt 8 who have been matched with a forever family, but many are still waiting to find a permanent home.
