SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - More than 600 people attended the San Diego American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Luncheon on this Valentine's Day.
CBS 8 is the proud sponsor of San Diego's Go Red for Women campaign.
I had the pleasure of emceeing Friday's event held at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines.
Themed around sisterhood and inspiration, the luncheon is a life-changing experience that focuses on raising awareness, creating a passionate call to action and generating funds to support education and research.
"We've come a long way. I'm a living example of that, but there's a lot of people, God love them, that aren't here anymore that have died of heart disease and stroke. We've got to keep doing our job," said survivor Susan Mahler
Heart disease is the number one cause of death in women, taking the life of approximately one woman every minute.
