Elephants introduced to each other at San Diego Zoo

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Zoo is helping a pair of elephants get comfortable with one another in their habitat.

Mila, an African elephant from New Zealand, was paired with Mary, an Asian elephant, in the zoo's elephant care center Tuesday morning.

Keepers had been slowly introducing the animals to each other through a protective barrier, but today was their first day in the same yard.

They say things went well as the elephants snacked on some hay and playfully grabbed each other.
