This week at Mobile World Congress 2014, the Tizen Association hosted a Partner Appreciation Reception where together with the Linux Foundation, it gave away over four million dollars to the winners of the Tizen App Challenge and welcomed more than 50 partners into the Tizen Association Partner Program. Throughout the week, Association members have been meeting with application developers, software vendors, device manufacturers and operators looking to support further commercialization of the Tizen Operating System.
"The recent success of the partner program, combined with the commercialization of wearable devices powered by Tizen, has positioned the Tizen Operating System for sustained success in 2014 and beyond," said Dr. Roy Sugimura, Tizen Association chairman. "The most exciting news for developers coming out of Mobile World Congress is the ongoing creation of new Tizen profiles for a wide range of connected devices, like wearables, televisions and the automobile environment, which will open up new opportunities to reach an audience beyond smartphones and tablets. We, together with the Linux Foundation, look forward to hosting the world's most creative, innovative and forward-thinking developers at the June Tizen Developer Conference. The engagement of our developer community is extremely important to Tizen's goal of becoming the 'OS of everything.'"
The Tizen Association is an industry consortium that supports the development of an open source software platform and operating system – Tizen – which supports a wide range of connected devices. New members-including commercial and independent application developers for the mobile and converged-device environment-have the potential to join relevant Tizen Association Working Groups and to participate in Tizen Association meetings, giving them more access, insight and input into the development of the Tizen OS.
