CHULA VISTA (CBS 8) - A massive Eucalyptus tree fell onto a condominium complex in Chula Vista Friday evening, causing significant roof damage for two families.

The 80-foot tree fell on top of a two-story complex on the 200 block of Otay Valley Road. The roof over two units was severely damaged and rain water had begun to leak into some of the rooms.

It happened at around 4:30 during heavy winds and rain, according to witnesses. By 11 o'clock fire fighters and tree servicemen had removed the debris from the roof and placed a tarp over the roof.

No one was hurt although at least one resident was home at the time of the incident.

The property manager was on site during the evening and offered to put the families up in a hotel, according to one resident.
