SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The snow fell in the mountains above Los Angeles Friday night after a day of cold rain.
Snow started coming down in Big Bear around 4:00 p.m. Friday and resort representatives expect to have up to a foot by Saturday morning when the ski lifts open.
But getting up to the mountain may not be that easy. Friday's weather caused several mud and rock slides along Highway 18. The road was closed for more than seven hours.
"Unfortunately, it could close at any time again depending on what Mother Nature delivers to us," said Shelli Lombardo who is with Caltrans.
Drivers heading up to Big Bear this weekend are being asked to carry chains in anticipation of the snow.
