Dozens go bald at St. Baldrick's Shave-a-Thon

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - There are a lot more shaved heads walking around San Diego and it is all for a good cause.

Saturday, dozens of people chose to go bald at the 6th annual St. Baldrick's Shave-A-Thon.

One of the first to go under the buzzer, nine-year old cancer survivor Trevor, who at the age of three was diagnosed with a form of cancer that had only a 10 to 20 percent survival rate.

"Now with the efforts of organizations like St. Baldricks, the survival rate is closer to 50 percent. The money is going to good work and it's saving lives. Every dollar counts here," said Jake Pescatello with the San Diego Chapter of St. Baldrick's Foundation.

One percent of the proceeds go directly to the St. Baldrick's Foundation.
