Heavy rain runoff floods homes in San Carlos

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The late afternoon storm band that moved across the county Saturday was too much for a clogged drain, which created a runoff that flowed into three homes.

Saturday night, the three families displaced are dealing with a massive cleanup project and were forced to find somewhere else to sleep. The homes are in the 7900 block of Beaver Lake Drive in San Carlos.

Madalyn Aguilar got the call from a neighbor and came to her home of 11 years to find everything under four inches of water.

"She called and said you better come home our houses are flooding," Aguilar continued.

Her daughter Alyssa got home a little earlier to find her neighbors and her uncle cleaning up a mess that he knew that storm drain was bound to cause.

Two houses down, the Aguilar's neighbors were flooded out as well with two inches of water getting inside and damaging belongings.

It was a chaotic Saturday for three families that aren't too fond of the storm drain that helped force them out of their homes. Those families said they would stay with friends in the area until they could return home.
