A double success story for twins Bryan & Chris

Posted: Updated:

They just weren't ready to be empty nesters, so the local couple featured in this week's Adopt 8 decided to adopt not one, but two children - a double dose of blessings in the form of twin boys. This is Chris and Bryan's success story.

It's been exactly two years since twins Chris and Bryan were matched with their forever family. Early on, their mom Kerry put together a photo book to tell the brothers a little about their new family. And, there have since been many more photos taken and countless new memories to cherish.

"It is just such a powerful experience. It's wonderful. You get to love people. What more could you want," said Kerry.

Kerry and Ron have been down the adoption road before. After having two biological kids, Michelle and Nick, they adopted siblings Angelica and Damon, who were just eight and six-years-old when they moved in with their new family.

Angelica, who is now expecting a child of her own, is so grateful for the life her parents have given her and her brother and says it wasn't a surprise when they decided to adopt again, saying she knew they would because they love kids too much to have all of them out of the house.

"We just weren't ready. The youngest was going off to college and we weren't ready for the empty nest, so we knew there were more out there to have some fun with," added Ron.

"We just felt like we had more energy to parent that's what we love to do," Kerry continued.

It was March 2011, when we first introduced you to Brian and Chris and they told us what they were looking for in a forever family. They wanted a nice mom and dad and want to play football and baseball with them.

A year later, they found themselves in the starting lineup of their new family and now it's non-stop sports action.

The boys, who are now 13, still see their biological family too.

Ron and Kerry encourage other families to adopt as well, they say you only live once so why not share the greatest gift you can give - that of love and family.

"It's been great. It's a lot of work, but they have hearts of gold and we've just been so fortunate," said Ron.
