Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - It's the ultimate man cave and it's dubbed: Your Dream Shop.

MakerPlace is a do-it-yourself workshop in San Diego, where craftsmen can use close to a million dollars' worth of tools for both hobby and business.

There is a membership fee to enter, but Saturday, March 8 is their Anniversary Open House, when the public can check it out for free.

MakerPlace is a complete metal, wood and electronics shop with a classroom and work area. The DIY workshop opened in March 2012 and is designed to offer its tools and work space to members who wouldn't otherwise have the means or workload to justify buying the tools.

The facility, the first of its kind in San Diego and is fully equipped with more than $750,000 worth of tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters/engravers, a CNC router and an industrial sewing machine.

If you've ever been stuck sitting in traffic, you've probably seen motorcyclists cutting through lanes and whizzing by. It's a move called lane-splitting, and while it's potentially dangerous, it's perfectly legal.
