Deputies notify residents about sexual predator

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - San Diego county sheriff's deputies went door to door in Jacumba Hot Springs Wednesday, notifying residents about a sexually violent predator that recently moved into the area.

Mikel Wayne Marshall was released from a state mental hospital two weeks ago. Marshall served 14 years in prison for molesting four boys in the 1990s.

In addition to notifying Marshall's new neighbors, law enforcement authorities are taking other steps to assure the safety of the community.

"He'll be wearing a GPS tracking bracelet at all times and he has two security guards with him at all times as well," Lt. James Bolwerk said.

Fourteen homes and three schools were notified Wednesday. Another 22 houses will be visited in the near future.
