SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – San Diego State celebrated the official dedication of its new Aztec Student Union Friday.

The 206,000-square-foot center features a bowling alley, gym, 300-seat theater and several places to purchase food. There are also offices for student services and places for campus groups to meet up.

"To have a student center where people can come as a community, have conversation, interact with each other, it's the most important thing in a college campus. It's really what we like to call a campus living room," Associated Students President Josh Morse said.

The student union was built as an environmentally sustainable building. It features a "green roof" as well as pavement that catches rainfall that is then used to water the plants around campus.
