Robbery suspect taken down in dramatic fashion

Posted: Updated:

OCEAN BEACH (CBS 8) - A robbery suspect is in custody Sunday after a dramatic take-down by police in Ocean Beach.

Officers got help from a police canine and a good Samaritan who walked into a gas station on Newport Avenue moments after it was robbed.

He told police he followed the suspect's car, snapping a picture of the license plate, then flagging down a police cruiser.

"It was weird, he changed clothes like a chameleon...he had a plaid shirt when he left and in his vehicle, he had a gray jacket on," Mel Serafine said.

The suspect was treated for a dog bite on his leg.

Police confiscated the money he allegedly took and discovered the vehicle he had been in was stolen.
