Brush fire in downtown quickly knocked down

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Firefighters made quick work of a brush fire in the Core-Columbia area of downtown San Diego Monday.

The noninjury fire in the vicinity of Third Avenue and Cedar Street was reported at 9:22 a.m., according to a San Diego fire-rescue dispatcher.

Flames were knocked down a short time later, she said, adding that the burn area was about 100-by-100 feet.

The cause was under investigation.
