Love and Aesthetics: One of a kind

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - For a guaranteed good time, head to Little Italy where you'll find fun and funky shops like Love & Aesthetics, Where Sean C. Barnes pledges to get edgy.

"I definitely wanted to open a store that was focused on things that were a little bit more risky," Sean said.

This is truly a shop where they wear their heart on just about everything.

"The plates that say 'Eat your Heart Out,' with an anatomical heart, which is kind of our staple here in the store," Sean said.

Not to be confused with the equally sentimental "I Love You More than Zombies Love Brains" plate.

"That's always one of my best sellers," Sean said.

Not into skeletal serveware, how about a monkey candelabra?

"I actually sell those really well. They come in black and white," Sean said.

Among the beasts, you will find beauty.

"The proceeds from these actually go back to keeping animals from being euthanized," Sean said.

The back end of Love and Asethetics is filled with home goods, jewelry, as well as a large assortment of very civilized teas. But even the paper goods here push the edge of the envelope.

"This one of our best sellers, 'I Love Your Stupid Face,'" Sean said.

Personally, I think the life-size swine piggie banks are divine.

Inside a small shop in Little Italy, pigs glow, monkeys fly, hearts are served and customers just can't get enough their quirky stuff.
