Man who shaped Southern Calif. surf culture dies at 80

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – A man who helped shape Southern California's surf culture with innovative surfboard and sailboat designs has died.

Hobie Alter came to be known as "The Henry Ford of surfing" after his groundbreaking creations helped modernize and revolutionize the sport.
