Jogger sexually assaulted in Fallbrook

Posted: Updated:

FALLBROOK (CNS) - A tall, paunchy man armed with a knife jumped a jogger as she pushed her toddler daughter in a stroller in Fallbrook Wednesday, then sexually assaulted the woman, authorities reported.

The attack took place on a pedestrian path near Lake Shore Park about 8:30 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.

Following the assault, the assailant fled the area on foot, Lt. Jeff Duckworth said.

The victim described the perpetrator as a roughly 6-foot-2-inch white or Hispanic man in his mid-30s to early 40s, with a "beer belly," dark, close-cropped hair, and a neatly trimmed full beard and mustache.

He was wearing black clothing, including work-style pants and a short-sleeved T-shirt with holes in it, the lieutenant said.
