SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - Tens of thousands of people gathered in Balboa Park Sunday for the 25th Annual Earth Fair. The event was billed as the largest, free annual environmental fair in the world.

It featured more than 300 exhibitors, a children's parade, an art show and a clean vehicle display.

From music to furry critters and even some TLC -- the 25th Annual Earth Fair in Balboa Park Sunday had something for everyone. Ten-year-old Déjà Thomas has attended for the past two years. A growing tradition her dad says is well worth dealing with the crowd, which was estimated at 60,000 people. More than 300 exhibitors also participated in this years event.

Some of the companies on hand included Ripple Textile Recycling, which keeps items made from fabric out of landfills by turning them into something new.

"Blue jeans that are in good condition...they're actually being ground up into old insulation...instead of the old fiber glass," Benita Webber said.

Also in the recycling arena, Bags and More by Tess. She's turned used Juice pouches into a booming business.

"See because these can't go in the landfill. They have to be sorted out. So it's good to make something they don't go into the trash," she said.

If cars are your passion, there were plenty on display. David Benardo makes his living transforming old Volkswagen bugs into electric vehicles.

"It doubles horsepower of the original," he said.

While Sunday's fair gave entrepreneurs like Benardo a chance to make their business grow -- more than anything it spread the message that it's never too late to go green.

"Every little bit helps," Benardo added.
