SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Strong winds knocked out power to 662 San Diego Gas & Electric customers in the far eastern reaches of San Diego County early Wednesday, according to the utility.

The outage struck at 1:18 a.m. and affected the areas of Descanso, Cuyamaca, Viejas, Boulder Creek, Pine Valley and Mount Laguna, SDG&E reported on its website. By 4 a.m., power was restored to all but nine customers.

A high wind warning was in effect for local valley and mountain areas for the second consecutive day today. The National Weather Service issued the warning until 5 p.m. Thursday, saying peak wind gusts of 60-80 miles per hour were likely Wednesday.
