SAN DIEGO (CBS 8 / CNS) - A melee in Grantville early Thursday morning led to a 20-year-old woman being run over by an SUV by one of the brawlers as he sped away from the scene, police said.

Officers were called to break up a fight between several people in the parking lot in front of a smoke shop at 5959 Mission Gorge Road at 1:37 a.m., according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

Once there, they found the woman suffering from two broken femurs and possibly a broken pelvis, he said in a statement.

She was run over by a man seen speeding away from the scene in a blue Ford Expedition, Delimitros said, adding her injuries, though serious, were not life-threatening.

The cause for the melee was under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego Police Department.
