Victims ready to deliver justice to mail thief

Posted: Updated:

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) – Some people living in Clairemont want to know who's been stealing their mail, and the search is on.

New surveillance video CBS News 8 received Friday shows the thief driving from home to home, stealing mail just about as fast as the postal service can drop it off.

After our original story aired on the mail thief Thursday, the Gibson family, who also lives in Clairemont, couldn't believe their eyes. On April 15, they say the same young blonde woman stole mail from their home too. Not once, but twice.

"This day and age you would think with social media she would get caught. It's totally ridiculous," victim Mya Gibson said.

On Wednesday morning, the woman pulled up to Josh McKeon's home and stole a package from his porch that contained a teething toy for his 8-month-old son.

The woman appears to be driving a newer model Ford Focus with Texas plates.

Now that both stories have aired, the e-mails and phone calls are pouring in with even more tips to help the Gibsons, the McKeons and the whole Clairemont neighborhood get this crook off the streets.

"I'm betting she's done this many times before, and I'm betting no one else has gotten any physical evidence. Hopefully now we can stop her and get her off the streets," McKeon said.

Another victim who lives in Clairemont shared surveillance video of a young blonde woman stealing a package from his porch and putting it under her shirt.

On Friday, another victim came forward and also lives in the neighborhood and had $1,000 worth of packages stolen.

A neighbor’s home surveillance video system caught a blue compact car on camera pulling into the driveway the same day the packages were stolen.

"It’s gutsy. I don't see how you can do it in broad daylight,” said Denny.

If you know who this woman is call the Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455.
