SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A San Diego police officer is released from jail following a second arrest on domestic violence charges.

Suspended San Diego police officer, Gilbert Anthony Lorenzo, spent the night behind bars, arrested for the second time in two weeks.

The 31-year-old is accused of abusing his wife.

Around 2:30 a.m. today, Lorenzo's wife, Tanya, posted on her Facebook page, "Dear beautiful daughters next to me, you're my purpose for thriving ... us three can take on the world."

Lorenzo quickly walked out of the San Diego Central Jail around 5:45 Tuesday morning and made his way into a cab.

It is not confirmed if charges were dropped, he posted bail or if he was released on his own recognizance.

The seven year veteran of the San Diego Police force is in trouble again.

Jail records show San Diego County deputies arrested him Monday night for domestic violence involving injury.

Sources tell CBS News 8 it happened in Spring Valley when his wife was dropping off their children where he is staying.

Sources say Lorenzo allegedly choked his wife and there were witnesses.

This, following his arrest on April 22. La Mesa Police apprehended Lorenzo for domestic violence against his wife. That was exactly two weeks ago, today.

The DA delayed filing charges to review the case.

His wife spoke and defended him at the time over the phone.

"We were arguing and he pushed me out of the way. I was in his face. We were arguing. He is not that way," Tanya Lorenzo said.

Lorenzo was being held on $50,000 bail.

He was suspended without pay last month, and San Diego Police Chief Shelley Zimmerman said she was extremely disappointed.

Lorenzo is expected to appear in court in El Cajon on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
