SAN DIEGO (CBS 8/CNS) -Police are investigating whether the same gunman who robbed a Wal-mart on College Avenue earlier this week is the same suspect who held up the same store less than six months ago.

The search was on Wednesday for the suspect who fired three shots into the ceiling while robbing a Walmart in College Grove on Tuesday, police said.

The gunman approached a cashier at the store at 3412 College Ave. shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday and fired three shots into the ceiling while demanding cash, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros. No one in the store, which was open at the time, was injured, he said.

The gunman fled with an unknown amount of cash, possibly in a silver Ford Mustang seen speeding away at 100 mile per hour onto nearby state Route 94, Delimitros said. Police described him as black, in his 30s, heavyset, 5 feet 8, with facial hair and possibly dreadlocks.
