CHULA VISTA (CBS 8) – A suspect is in police custody Tuesday after barricading himself in a Chula Vista motel room, leading to a standoff that lasted throughout the afternoon.
It began as police responded to a domestic violence call at about 2 p.m. at the Goodnight Inn located in the 200 block of Bay Boulevard. As they arrived, they saw the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Andre Jaques, run into a motel room. Officers discovered the door was barricaded, prompting a SWAT team response.
At about 5 p.m. SWAT officers parked their armored vehicle in front of the room and ordered Jacques to come out. About 30 minutes later, he complied and was taken into custody on an outstanding felony arrest warrant.
An unidentified woman and a six-year-old child were also located inside the motel room. They were not injured.
The standoff closed Bay Boulevard between E Street and F Street throughout Tuesday afternoon.
