    Never did I think I would utter these names in the same sentence, Douglas Edwards and Walter Cronkite, Biff and Skippy. But they were all part of news and entertainment line up here at KFMB over the past 65 years.

    With a transmitter site on Mount Soledad, KFMB began broadcasting from the Pacific Square Ballroom on Pacific Highway in 1949. The station moved around the corner to a five-story building on a now-vacant lot on Fifth and Ash before settling into our current Kearny Mesa location in 1977. Over the years, some of your favorite personalities have passed through these portals.

    We are saddened to report our beloved colleague Larry Himmel,  CBS News 8's legendary reporter, humorist and consummate broadcaster died Wednesday, November 5th following his brave battle with cancer. Larry was 68 years old.

    CBS News 8 broadcast engineer Scott Rice always knew he wanted to work in the TV business. In fact, 16-years-ago he got Larry's attention. That's when Larry discovered that Scott was running a radio station, out of his bedroom.
