    Investigations were under way Tuesday into a rash of major fires that destroyed dozens of homes and businesses last week as they raged over tens of thousands of acres throughout the San Diego area.

ESCONDIDO (CBS 8) – We now know what sparked the Bernardo Fire on Tuesday, but what about the other fires around San Diego?

Authorities say construction workers using a backhoe started the fire at a work site off Nighthawk Lane in 4S Ranch. Investigators are still working to determine the causes of the Cocos and Poinsettia fires.
