CARLSBAD (CBS 8) - A Carlsbad man is searching for his dog that went missing when the Poinsettia Fire forced it from his home.

Cody Powers says his girlfriend was home alone with his dogs when she had to be rescued and treated for smoke inhalation.

Powers says police wouldn't take the dogs, so his girlfriend set them free near Cassia Road and El Camino Real so they would have a chance.

One dog was returned by the San Diego County Animal Shelter, but Tikaani -- a four-year-old tan and white husky labrador mix is still missing.

Tikaani has reportedly been spotted in the burned valley next to Cassia Road. If you see the dog please contact animal services at 619-767-2675.
