Driver charged in apparent road rage case

SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - A driver has been charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon and driving on a suspended license in connection with an apparent road rage case that was caught on camera.

Stephanie Pontarolo, 33, was already in jail on unrelated parole charges when the new charges were filed.

The CHP says Pontarolo was angry at another driver for cutting her off. In dash cam video, she's seen pulling up next to the car, then both vehicles swerve before the truck overturned.

The CHP says this accident is a prime example of why people need to stay calm behind the wheel.

"When you're driving aggressively or if you're already high stress and you're getting yourself into a car, the likelihood of you overreacting to a situation is great," Jake Sanchez of the CHP said.

Pontarolo is being held on $150,000 bail. She will be back in court on June 5.
