Suspect arrested after big rig chase on I-15

Posted: Updated:
SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A man who allegedly tried to run down a police officer with a stolen big rig led authorities on a road chase in the vehicle from San Bernardino County to the San Diego area Tuesday, where he finally pulled over at a gas station near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar and was arrested.

The pursuit began in Ontario in the early afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The suspect, identified asRiverside resident Alberto Ochoa, led officers through Riverside County and into the San Diego region, where he passed through Fallbrook, Bonsall, Escondido, Rancho Bernardo, Rancho Penasquitos and Mira Mesa before exiting onto Miramar Road at about 2:40 p.m., the CHP reported.

He then pulled into a Shell station off Kearny Villa Road, got out of the stolen truck and made a failed attempt to escape on foot. Officers took him into custody there a short time later with help from a K-9 unit.

Ochoa was treated at the scene for bite wounds.
