EL CAJON (CNS) - A young man was jailed Friday after he allegedly stabbed his mother and younger brother at their apartment near Parkway Plaza mall, killing the woman and leaving the teenager hospitalized.

Officers responding to a report of a family dispute in the 500 block of Ballantyne Street in El Cajon found the mortally wounded 39-year-old woman on a staircase. She died at the scene, Lt. Frank La Haye said.

Her 14-year-old son was found in a parking lot at the complex, also suffering from serious stab wounds. Medics took him to a trauma center. His condition was not immediately released.

Officers arrested Mohammed Raad Agab, 20, on suspicion of carrying out the assaults on his family members, La Haye said.

Police disclosed no suspected motive for the stabbings.

Agab was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment, scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
