Family gets new home from Habitat for Humanity

Posted: Updated:

ESCONDIDO (CNS) - A family is the proud owner of a brand new home in Escondido Friday, thanks to Habitat for Humanity.

The home was constructed from the ground up, on land donated by the city. The building blitz was accomplished by donations and workers from two construction companies and Sempra Energy.

"On Monday morning this house right here was just a foundation, and today it is a finished home and we have another house over there that's almost half, more than half complete," Lori Pfeiler of Habitat for Humanity said.

Habitat for Humanity said the Sempra Energy home will go to the wounded veteran.

The families receiving the homes will repay a zero percent mortgage but help with the construction process.

San Diego Habitat for Humanity has built 18 homes in five previous builders blitz events.
